Gillingham A.A 2nd Winter Championship. River Stour- Deepwater, Highbridge and Rectory Straight. (32 pegs) - 8th Nov '09
There
were high hopes of this being an excellent River match with the river
fining down after a flood but unfortunately there was a bit too much
colour in the river still for many fish to feed. Winner on the day was
Barry Taylor who drew peg 13 at Highbridge and who caught a small Chub
on the feeder and then topped up with small Roach on maggot on the pole
to weigh in 5-4. Close behind in second was Tony West who was in peg 16
and caught a small Bream and a Chub on the feeder and some small fish to
weigh in 4-12.

Todber Manor Winter League Practice Open. (Park Lake and Whitepost Top Lake) (28 pegs)
This
practice match saw many good weights recorded and there are high hopes
for an excellent winter league match on the venue next week. Winner on
the day was Will Bonnie (Garbolino Blackmore Vale) who drew peg 36 on
Park Lake and fished expanda pellets on the long pole over pellet to
catch mainly Carp to 5lb for 132-12. Runner-Up was Jamie Smith (Haines
Angling) who fed 3 tins of sweetcorn on peg 14 on Whitepost to catch
Carp to 6lb to record a weight of 103-4.
3rd: George Perkins (Viaduct Juniors)- 85-10
4th: Dave Hydes (Andover)- 79-1

Gillingham AA 1st winter championship. River Stour (Highbridge to
Catholics) (34 pegs) - 25th October'09
The first
winter match saw a good turnout of 34 anglers fish a good looking River
Stour carrying a bit of extra water and colour. Winner on the day was
Simon Hebditch who drew peg 12 at Rectory and caught 10-4 of mainly
Roach, Dace and Chublets up to 10 oz on the stickfloat and on the pole
with maggot and Caster as bait, and adding a bonus 1lb Perch on the
lobworm. Runner Up was Adie West who caught 5 Chub to 2lb for 8-3 on
the feeder and worm from peg 60 at Catholics.

Angling Times. Hants, Wilts & Dorset Winter League. Round 1. Stoneham Lakes at Eastleigh. (60 pegs)
The first
round of the winter league got underway and the two lakes at Stoneham
fished reasonably well withy Garbolino Blackmore Vales' Jon Atkins
winning with 37-12 of Bream and skimmers on the pole and worm over
caster and groundbait from the middle of the dam on the top lake.
Second place was Pete Newman (Eastleigh) who caught 29-5 of skimmers,
Carp and Tench from the end peg on the bottom lake.
3rd: Jon Clarke (Eastleigh)- 29-2
4th: Andy Palmer (TVAC)- 27-12
5th: Ian Paulley (Spro Dorset Raiders)- 27-2
Teamwise
Garbolino Blackmore Vale had 4 section wins and 4 section seconds and
won on the day with 49 points from Spro Dorset Raiders with 36 points.

Gillingham A.A Carnival Open at Lodden Lakes (28 pegs)
The Carnival Open was fished by 28 anglers and raised £100 for the Carnival Committee. Winner on the day was Mark Leslie (Garbolino Blackmore Vale) who drew peg 6 and caught 19-4 of skimmers and Bream on the pole and waggler on Casters and maggots. Runner Up was Martin Fuller (Garbolino Blackmore Vale) who drew peg 31 and fished the pole with groundbait and casters to catch 18-11 of skimmers.

Gillingham A.A 6th Summer Outing- Coking Farm Rush and Meadow lakes (32 pegs) - 6th September '09
The final match in the series found the Gillingham anglers fish Coking
Farm with most of the top weights coming from Rush Lake. Joe Miller won
the match with 109-00 of Carp on the pole and paste. Second was Jason
randall with 65-00 of Carp on pellet and expanda.
3rd: John Moody- 56-8
4th: Jason Mills- 49-8
5th: Gary Lynch- 43-14
This meant that Jason Mills won the summer championship with 492 points from Mark Leslie with 477 and John Moody with 473.
The veterans was won by M. Walters with 460 and the ladies by Jill Hunt with 403.
There is a work party on the River on September 20th.

Gillingham A.A 3 Day Festival (50 pegs) Lodden Lakes, Turners Paddock and Whitepost Lakes - 23rd August '09
The 13th annual festival proved to be an interesting 3 days with Newton Abbotts Tim Rowe (Preston Innovations Thatchers) winning the festival and pocketing over £900 in winnings and bets, with a maximum 27 points. The first day saw Tim draw peg 12 on Whitepost Top Lake and catch 55-04 of Carp on pellet and paste to record his first section win. The second day found Tim on peg 41 on Lodden where Tim caught 4 Carp on a method feeder and 20lb of skimmers on the pole for 53-3 and a lake win. Going into the last day Tim drew peg 13 on Turners, the infamous waterfall peg, and win the lake again with 38-2 of skimmers on the feeder.
Runner up was Liam Bradell (Preston Innovations Thatchers) who dropped 2 points over the festival and finishing with 25 points, winning £300. Liam's best day was at Lodden where his 45-12 consisted of 18lb of skimmers on the pole and one Carp down the edge weighing 27-12!!!!!!! This was good enough to win the biggest fish prize of £100, though only just as Geoff Matthews had a 27-02 Carp on the last day at Lodden.

caught small roach and skimmers, but some bream, tench and a carp came
later. It was a close finish.

The River
Avon was in hard form for the 5th summer outing at Staverton, and Jason
Mills (Garbolino Blackmore Vale) won the match from peg 59 with 6-6 of
little roach on the pole over groundbait and pinkie/ maggot. Second was
Rob Randall (Garbolino Blackmore Vale) from peg 12 with 5-12 of Roach on
the pole over groundbait, catching shallow in the last hour.

A
disappointing turnout found Turners in quite hard form with the Bream
unwilling to feed. Winner on the day was Mark Harper (P.I Thatchers)
with 29-8. Mark caught a few skimmers early before switching to the
pole and caster to catch Roach to 8 oz. Runner Up and only 6 oz off the
pace was Alex Murray (Mosella) who caught a couple of Bream on the pole
and lots of Roach to weigh in 29-2.

Gillingham A.A Evening Match- Lodden Lakes (10 pegs) - 22nd July '09
The
fishing was still very good at Lodden this week and Jason Mills (Garbolino
Blackmore Vale) won the match with 48-00 from peg 11. Jason caught
skimmers and Bream to 5lb down the edge on corn over pellet. Simon
Hebditch (Garbolino Blackmore Vale) was second from peg 17, catching
30-00 of skimmers on the pole and worm over light groundbait.

4th Gillingham A.A Summer Outing. River Huntspill at Withy Grove- 33pegs. - 19th July '09
The River
Huntspill was very wet and windy for the latest summer outing and Ben
Dukes only needed a very low weight to win it, catching 8-13 of skimmers
on red maggot from peg 150 on the feeder. Second was John Moody from
peg 153 with 8-00 of skimmers on the feeder and worm.

In
contrast to the day matches, the evening matches are fishing their heads
off with Jason Mills (Garbolino Blackmore Vale) winning the latest one
with 67-08 of skimmers and Tench on the short pole and pellet from peg
15.

This
annual memorial match drew 29 anglers who found the Dave Hillier Lake in
indifferent form. Winner on the day was Mark Leslie (Gillingham A.A)
who drew peg 32 and caught 3 Tench and some skimmers on the pole and
caster for 25-10, doubling Liam Bradell's (PI Thatchers) second placed
haul of skimmers of 12-2 from peg 39.

A small turnout for the Gillingham A.A first Open at Turners, mainly due to the seven O'clock draw which put a few people off, but the venue fished exceptionally well!
Winner on
the day was Jason Mills (Garbolino Blackmore Vale) who drew peg 23 in
the bay and caught bigger Bream on Corn on the feeder for a weight of
42-4. Runner-Up Ben Dukes (Garbolino Blackmore Vale) drew peg 21 in the
narrows and caught smaller skimmers on the feeder and pole on worms and
casters to record a weight of 35-8

Another
good turnout found the Dave Hillier Lake at Lodden in good form and the
experimental afternoon/evening match seemed to pay dividends with 12
double figure weights recorded. Winner on the day was Mark Leslie who
drew peg 1 and fished down the edge and out in front on the pole to
catch 4 Tench, a small Carp and lots of skimmers on Worm and Caster
for 31-1. Second was Dave Sealy who drew peg 16 and caught an all Bream
net of 29-2 on worm and Caster with fish up to 4lb.

Gillingham A.A 1st Summer Outing at Todber Manor's Park Lake. (38 pegs) - 7th June '09
A cracking turnout of 38 anglers took every peg on Park Lake and despite this the venue fished very well.
Winner on
the day was Jason Mills (Garbolino Blackmore Vale) who caught 112-00,
catching small Carp on the pole early on soft pellet before catching on
the method feeder accross to seal the win. Second placed Sam Trevis
(Gillingham A.A) caught 71-13 of Carp on the pole.

Joint Fisheries Annual Charity Challenge. Dave Hillier Lake at Lodden (32 pegs) 24th May '09
32 hardy
anglers braved the sweltering temperatures to fish this Charity match in
aid of the Somerset and Dorset Air Ambulance in which the majority of
the fish in the lake were spawning. Winner on the day was Ben Dukes (Garbolino
Blackmore Vale) who drew peg 9 for the 7th time and caught a Carp and a
Tench on worm over Caster on the pole in the margins for a winning
weight of 15-4, pocketing £100. Runner Up was Matt Parsons (P.I
Thatchers) who drew peg 23 and caught a Tench and a Carp on double
Caster for an agonisingly close 15-3. Third placed Simon Hebditch (Garbolino
Blackmore Vale) had 3 small Carp and some skimmers for 10-8.

Gillingham A.A Open- Mappowder (17 pegs) 10th May '09
It was a
case of two lakes on Sunday with Pheasant Lake the place to draw and
providing 5 of the top 6 weights. Winner on the day with 36-10 was
Jason Mills (Garbolino Blackmore Vale) who drew the point and caught 4
small Bream and some Carp on the pole and caster and pellet. Runner Up
was Martin Fuller (Garbolino Blackmore Vale) with 29-08, who drew the
monk on Pheasant and caught 10 small carp on the long pole and 216 small
Rudd on a topkit when everything went quiet! Best weight on Spring was
John Moody (Spro Dorset Raiders) who drew the tree peg and caught 9 Carp
to 7lb on the pole and sweetcorn for a weight of 24-00.

Gillingham A.A Open at Lodden Lakes (23 pegs) 3rd May '09
A good
turnout of 23 anglers fished the latest Gillingham AA Open on the Dave
Hillier Lake and the venue fished quite well with alot of anglers
catching double figures. Winner on the day from peg 41 on the roadside
was Adie West (Gillingham AA) with a cracking weight of 58-8 made up of
5 Tench to 5lb, 3 Carp to 10lb and some skimmers and small Bream on a
variety of baits including maggots, Casters, luncheon meat and worms.
Second on the day was Andy Power (P.I Thatchers) with 25-5 of feeder
caught skimmers and one small Carp.
3rd: Graham Houghton (Tisbury)- 23-00
4th: Mark Brennan (P.I Thatchers)- 20-8
5th: Nigel Bartlett (Sensas M5 Angling)- 19-8

Gillingham A.A Open at Mappowder Lakes (17 pegs) 19th April '09
Another
sharp frost put a dampener on sport again at this venue with many people
catching a few fish early then sitting out for a few more fish. Winner
on the day was John Moody (Spro Dorset Raiders) who drew on Pheasant
Lake, opposite the island, and caught 15 Carp and a couple of 5lb
Bream for a winning weight of 31-00, catching most of his fish on the
pole on maggot, worms and sweetcorn over caster and micropellet.
Runner- Up was Rob Manns (Garbolino Blackmore Vale) who drew the monk on
Pheasant Lake and caught all small Carp on the pole for 18-4, on maggot
over worm and caster. Best weight on Spring lake was third placed Jason
Mills (Garbolino Blackmore Vale) who drew the point and caught 16-6 of
Carp on the pole and worm, and method feeder and maggot.
