The Village Hall at Craighouse is the venue for frequent Ceilidhs (dances),
and other Island gatherings to which Visitors are normally welcomed.
Jura House Garden at Ardfin is open to the public, with woodland and
cliff-top walks and a walled garden including a section of native Australian
plants. Plants are also for sale.
Jura Parish Church (Church of Scotland) is at Craighouse and has a display
of old photographs of 'Jura - the island as it was'. A booklet Jura Parish Church -
a brief history (Author: G. Wright) can be obtained from the Hotel.
The author George Orwell wrote his novel 1984 while living
on Jura. A booklet Jura and George Orwell (by G. Wright) is available
from the Hotel.
Guide books on the Island are also available from the Hotel. These include
The Long Road by P. Youngson, The Geology of Jura (D. Horne)
and Jura - a guide for walkers (G. Wright).
We also stock copies of Images from the past - a collection of old photographs

There is a general store (including the Post Office) at
Jura Stores, Craighouse.
There is a gift shop and tea-room at Craighouse.
Bus Service. A minibus operates from Feolin to Craighouse and on
to Inverlussa.
At the end of May each year, the island is host to the gruelling Isle of Jura Fell Race - a course of 16 miles, covering 7 mountain summits and ascending 7,500 feet. The race usually attracts a large entry. More details can be found on the hillrunning.com website.
A Doctor's practice is situated at the Surgery, Craighouse. Urgent cases
can be flown by air ambulance to the Mainland hospitals.
