Battle of the Bands

Just Music is pleased to be one of the sponsors of Battle of the Bands being held in conjunction with this years Gosport Waterfront Festival. The Festival will mark Gosport’s 800 th anniversary and will be held on 3 rd and 4 th July. It promises to be a great weekend of music and the winner of the Battle of Bands will be announced at the festival. The bands in first and second place will have the opportunity of playing live at the Festival with prizes of £1000 and £500 respectively. The heats have been held at the Sidewalk club, High Street, Gosport and have been hosted by Quay radio. The standard of the bands so far has been really high and the competition has done well to raise the profile of local groups and get debate going over the results and local music scene.

Sidewalk Gig Evenings

Following on from the response to the Battle of the Bands just music has arranged with the Sidewalk management to host gigs at the club on a regular basis. We’ve listened to our customers telling us that the local music scene has declined and we’re going to b providing the opportunity for new and experienced groups to play at the club. The Sidewalk has provisions for under 18’s to enter the club which will help the younger groups get a chance to perform live. We will be running the evenings in conjunction with Tracks Studio and the gigs will initially be held on the last Thursday of the month. If there is enough interest from local groups the gigs could be held every fortnight or possibly every week. Customers of just music and Tracks will initially get priority for booking. If you are interested in finding out more then please contact us.

Lady Windwood’s Maggot and Teapot Junkies

Friday 13 th August 2004, Thorngate Halls, Bury Road Gosport. Put the date in your diary. If you haven’t got your tickets for the gig of the year then get down to the shop and buy them now. The Maggot’s line up includes none other than Mr G Bushell himself. The original music is an interesting blend of folk country and rock and is full of energy. The Teapot Junkies is an interesting collection of original songs written and performed by Ben and Glenn more often seen as 2/3 of the Purple Monkey trio. If you haven’t heard their 2 CD’s (if not why not? They are on sale in the store at the bargain price of £5.00) they play a mix of folk and pop songs showcasing an impressive range of musical talent. Both groups will compliment each other and it promises to be an entertaining evening. There will also be commentary from Bill the New Bugger plus a raffle of musical instruments and possibly an auction on the night too.

All profits from the evening will be donated to the ‘Play for Brijj Fund’ and the fund will be used to buy instruments for Brijj’s old school Woodcot. For information on the fund or the gig please contact the store.
