How
it all began
Phil started in racing by following his dad at motocross meetings all
over the country. At the age of 16, Phill being old enough to compete
at adult motocross started out on a 125 Suzuki. This opened the door
to a motocross career that after a move up to 250 Honda's included no
less than four championships and countless race wins over the next four
year. After competing in his first national events, and scoring enough
points in 1993 to acquire his expert license, his bikes and gear were
stolen.
After taking
a couple of years off, the urge to go road racing became stronger. After
competing in a couple of meetings on the bike he rode to work he decided
to embark on his road-racing career.
A Suzuki
RGV250 race bike was purchased, and an attack on the New Era club's
Formula 400 championship and Superclub championship began. After an
excellent season that brought a number of victories and the club championship,
and runner-up spot in the Superclub championship he was hooked.
Looking
forward to 2003
So, with 2003 already upon us, I'm deep in preparation towards, what
I hope will be an excellent year. I will once again be competing in
the MRO 250 GP class, with hopefully, if I can obtain some help, some
European championship rounds too. The bike has been completely stripped
and prepared for the new season and the riders in training! When I've
been out training, with my Motocross bike, my wrist has given me no
problems at all. With my bad luck out of the way from last year, I can't
wait for the first round.
