Extended Tutors Guide for the Stareway To Spelling manual.Day 6 - Section One spelling list test and continuing reading exercises.
On Day 6, I turned to page 27 and gave my student the exercise book that I had put in the pocket at the back of the manual. I dictated the lists for my student to write in her exercise book and then continued with reading exercises from section 2.
After the lesson I prepared for the next lesson. Firstly, I marked the words in the first column of the grids on page 27, ticking where the word was correct, and dotting where the word was incorrect (negatives). I wrote the negatives on the marking grid on page 29, ignoring any words already printed in the grid on page 28. An example of the marking grid is shown below.
I continued preparation for the next lesson by writing the first eight negatives (word, what, each, by, do, use, could and some) in the first Spelling Dictation Box on page 30. I continued my preparation by turning to the guide on page 80-83 and reviewing the tips.
Please note: -
- When dictating the list of words if your student is hesitant when writing the word, mark it as incorrect.
- Do not try to learn all the tips for overcoming common errors. You can deal with them one-at-a-time with your student during the next lesson.
