Keda Cowling's methods in schools and other education establishments

This section of the site will include examples of best practice from schools, extracts from letters from teachers, and other information and hints for improving literacy levels throughout the education system.

We are always pleased to be able to see Keda's methods in action, or to help you get the best from her workbooks. Please contact us if you would like to arrange a visit.

One of the most effective ways that we have seen for using Keda's workbooks is a 'buddy system' . More information will be added soon, but please contact us now if you are interested in this type of scheme.

We receive many letters each year from schools and colleges, describing the benefits of using Keda's workbooks. Please take time to let us know how you are progressing in your school. We have some extracts on the Toe By Toe school letters page, and we will be adding more soon.

The realisation of Keda's dream to provide literacy for everyone at school is happening in several schools throughout the UK and around the world. We hope to bring you details of many of these in the near future. For now, please look at: -

  • Parkside School in West Yorkshire. The efforts of Mrs Baugh and her team are an inspiration to everyone.
  • Eston Park School near Middlesbrough. Volunteers help Bryn Clarkson to teach reading with Toe By Toe, enriching both pupils skills and community links.
