Crofton
Pumping Station Situated in an Area of Outstanding
Natural Beauty, this magnificent Grade 1 Listed Building Houses
two of the oldest working Steam Powered Beam Engines in the world.
The Station is open to the Public for static viewing between 10:30
and 17:00 from Good Friday to the end of September and is steamed
during the summer months on seven weekends.

The station is open every day, except
Wednesdays, from April 10th to September 27th
between 10.30 a.m. and 5.00 p.m. (Last Entrance - 4:30 p.m.)
The Engines will be In Steam on
the following dates:- April 11th - 12th - 13th (Easter) May
2nd - 3rd - 4th, May 23rd - 24th - 25th June 27th - 28th August
1st - 2nd, 29th - 30th - 31st September 26th - 27th
There is ample parking opposite, and
plenty of mooring below Lock 60. Light refreshments are available
and its an excellent place to stop for a picnic or just to sit and
enjoy the splendid views.
Wilton Windmill Can be reached by crossing
the lock at Crofton and walking along the Roman Road Opposite. It
is the only working windmill left in Wiltshire, and is open to the
public on summer Sundays and Bank Holiday Mondays.
Bruce Tunnel Situated in a tree lined cleft
it makes for an interesting walk along the towpath from Crofton
Pumping Station.
The Shop and Cafe at Crofton Pumping
Station The Trust's shop and café within the Pumping
Station have been totally refurbished and expanded.
A wide range of drinks, locally-sourced hot and cold foods, sandwiches,
cakes and sweets is available, and the views from the terracing
outside the Pumphouse are outstanding! Beside the cafe
is the shop selling a good selection of canal-related books, maps,
souvenirs and gifts.
