Author Talk with Warren Berry at Borders
Bookshop, Wednesday 22nd July, 8.30pm
As part of the build-up to this year's Newbury
Waterways Festival, Borders will be hosting a talk with Warren Berry
- author of 'The Kennet & Avon Navigation: A History'. Warren is
a long time advocate of canal conservation and historical awareness,
and his association with the Kennet & Avon Trust stretches back
over 20 years. This is a unique opportunity to meet Warren, ask
him some questions and gain some insight into the history of one
of Britain's most famous canals. The event is free, but

Annual Newbury Water Festival
Sunday 26th July, 10am - 4pm Victoria
Park, Newbury Wharf
For a great family day out, come and enjoy the
Newbury Waterways Festival. Set beside the beautiful Kennet & Avon
Canal, a colourful flotilla of boats will be lined up along the
canal side decorated in the theme of ‘Pirates!’ Victoria Park will
be filled with stalls, children’s rides, crafts, refreshments and
entertainment with plenty to do for all the family. Admission is

The Shop at The
Stone Building, Newbury Wharf
Due to reorganisation, the
shop is currently closed
The
Trust's shop and café are within the Stone Building on Newbury Wharf,
which lies on the south side of the river between Victoria Park
Bridge and the bridge that carries the A339/Inner Ring Road over
the river.
A large pay-and-display car park and public
toilets are adjacent to the Stone Building.
On sale: good selection of
Canal-related books, maps, souvenirs and gifts. Hot and cold drinks,
sandwiches and cakes, ice creams and sweets. Refreshments can be
eaten inside the building or, weather permitting, outside on the
quay-side.
The upstairs Meeting Room in the Stone
Building is available for hire.
Volunteers - We are always
looking for volunteers to help in the shop. It's rewarding,
worthwhile and good fun! If you could offer as little as 3
hours a month - or if you know someone who could - please give Tracy
a call on the number below. She will be very pleased to hear
from you!
