Criccieth Castle

£760 r/c                 £917 r/c & sound

Criccieth Castle is the first in a new range of battery powered diesel outline locomotives. The engine was built at Boston Lodge for the Ffestiniog Railway from parts supplied by Baguley—Drewry and entered service in 1995.
The model has been designed and built to be equal in performance to thier steam models. It features a beefy motor and drive-train and at almost 3 kg is quite a heavyweight with performance to match.
It will pull the heaviest trains at realistic speeds and keep going for several hours.

Make it something extra special with the optional onboard sound system.
Hear the engine start up when you switch the loco on and sit there with the engine ticking over. Open the throttle and the engine sound increases with the speed of the loco. Hear the air brakes operate or the horn sound as you press a third switch on the transmitter.

CLASSIC SERIES

Tom Rolt

£1420 manual        £1595 r/c

The prototype was designed at the Talyllyn Railway Pendre works, and built using parts from a 1948 Barclay 3' gauge locomotive as well as many new items. The project took over 20 years to complete and the loco entered service in 1991 as No.7, TOM ROLT. It is named after the transport history and engineering author, L. T. C. Rolt who inspired the rescue of the Talyllyn Railway by volunteers and was the TR's first general manager after preservation.
In the last 19 years, the loco has undergone a number of minor changes and our model is based on the engine as originally built.
As far as possible, all major dimensions are to scale for 16mm/1ft however, to ensure that performance and reliability are to the usual high standard, some compromises have been made in the cylinder and valve gear proportions.

Technical specifications for Tom Rolt

0-4-2 inside framed chassis with two double acting slide valve cylinders operated by simplified Walschaerts valve gear.
Internal gas firing using our 'FG' type burner.
Controls fitted as standard are :- steam regulator, safety valve, pressure gauge, displacement lubricator, water gauge, gas regulator and reversing gear.
Water gauge and top-up system fitted as standard.
Overall dimensions are :- length (over buffers) 300mm, width (over handrails) 98mm, height 136mm, weight 2.75kg ( with r/c).
Full radio control is available for both speed and direction.
Gauge is not adjustable but the model is available in both 32mm and 45mm gauge versions. Minimum radius on 32mm gauge is 2’ 6” and for 45mm gauge, it is 2’ (LGB R1) .
Supplied with both standard Roundhouse center buffers plus, hook coupling and buffers as per Talyllyn railway (as illustrated).
Insulated wheels fitted as standard.
Available in any standard Roundhouse colour.
By popular request, a new colour, Deep Bronze Green, has been added to our range of standard colours. We are told that this is close to the correct livery for this model.

45mm gauge version.
In order to accommodate the wider gauge, a separate, wider chassis is used on the 45mm gauge version. This causes the cylinders to protrude beyond the side tanks and buffer beams, but are still within the overall loading gauge width, measured over the cab side handrails. Also, the rear chassis beneath the cab is made wider to allow the rear truck to swing on curves.
All of the superstructure is the same for both 32mm and 45mm versions and is to scale for 16mm:1ft. The wider chassis is not used on 32mm gauge locomotives and is a necessary compromise to offer a 45mm gauge version, but may not look right to some eyes.

Taliesin £1790

Taliesin is a single Fairlie running on the Ffestiniog Railway in North Wales. Although the original locomotive was built in 1876 by the Vulcan Foundry, this model is based on the re-build/new-build, constructed at Boston Lodge, that entered service in 1999.
The FR Fairlies, both single and double, have always attracted a lot of interest due to their unusual appearance and the fact that they are articulated locomotives.
The articulated front power bogie enables this relatively long engine to operate on small radius curves with minimum overhang.
This detailed model captures the look of these distinctive engines and has the usual Roundhouse performance that customers have come to expect.

Technical specifications

bullet0-4-4 single Fairlie with two double acting slide valve cylinders operated by Roundhouse inside valve gear.
bulletInternally gas fired using tghe Roundhouse ‘FG’ type system.
bulletControls fitted as standard are :- steam regulator, safety valve, pressure gauge, displacement lubricator, water gauge, boiler top up valve and gas regulator.
bulletTwo channel radio control fitted as standard for both speed and direction.
bulletAvailable in all standard Roundhouse colours.

bulletDimensions are :- length 342mm, width 113mm, height 134mm,

Please note :- Insulated wheels are available on this model and, it is available for either 32mm or 45mm gauge, but is not adjustable between the two so please state gauge when ordering. Insulated wheels are £63.50.

SRRL #24

R/C £2815.00               Manual £2590.00

#24 was built by Baldwin at their Philadelphia works in 1919 for the Sandy River and Rangeley Lakes Railroad in Maine, USA. It was the last locomotive bought by the railroad, was over 46 feet long, weighed an impressive 43.75 tons and had a tractive effort of 10,115 lbs. Despite the fact that it was considered an excellent piece of motive power, it was sadly scrapped in 1936 along with the rest of the railroad.

This superbly detailed model is of the locomotive as running in the 1920's. Although measuring 28" (700mm) long, it will still negotiate track down to 600mm (2') radius, thus allowing operation on all LGB track. A working water system is incorperated into the model with water tank and pump in the tender and water gauge on the boiler allowing continuous steaming for long periods.
