Elders at King's Church
Mike and Heather Hughes
Although originally from South Wales and Chesterfield, Mike and Heather both
ended up in Loughborough in 1993, and got married in Loughborough in 1994. At the
time Heather was teaching in a Primary School, and Mike was a full-time evangelist,
schools worker, and youth pastor employed by King’s Church. Heather began full-time
Bible College at Covenant College in September 1995, the same college that Mike
attended from 1992 to 1994. Her studies were cut short when they moved to York in
December 1995 to lead a congregation there.
After 6 fruitful years in York, they moved back to Loughborough in August 2001. Mike now carries overall leadership responsibility to the church and the leadership team. Heather is currently doing an MA in Social Work at Leicester University. They have 2 daughters, Megan and Ellie.
Peter and Barbie Reynolds
Born in Sri Lanka and Singapore respectively, they both carry a burden for the
continent of Asia. They bring this burden to the church through Peter's eldership
to those from other cultures as well as pastoral care to the local church. In the
early 90's they founded ‘Rapport’, an organisation aimed at enhancing marriage
relationships, especially in the area of communication. ‘Rapport’ became part of
Care for the Family and since then Barbie has pioneered the ‘Bereaved Parents Network’
and ‘Asian Family Matters’ within Care for the Family.
Pete and Barbie pioneered the Bath City Church, where Peter was the senior elder for around 20 years. They moved to Loughborough in 1995, and have brought a wealth of spiritual insight and practical knowledge to the church in Loughborough. They have five children and ten grandchildren.
Steve and Helen Moses
Steve, originally from Hampshire and Helen, from Lincolnshire met at University
in London. They both attended Covenant College in 1993 and then spent two years in
Nottingham before moving to Loughborough in 1995.
They are both teachers! Steve is a part time primary school teacher in Leicester and together Steve and Helen manage the Small World Nursery School.
Steve and Helen work closely together to look after people across the congregation. They often run our Alpha Courses and get involved with those new to following Jesus. Helen is also recognised as a 'prophet', i.e. someone who is good at hearing God and bringing his message to us.
Richard and Lyn White
Richard and Lyn originate from London and met as students in Portsmouth. They
married in 1970 and Richard worked as a lecturer in Further Education whilst Lyn
was a hospital pharmacist. They moved from Suffolk to Bradford in 1974 and were
for many years part of Abundant Life Church in the city. They moved to Loughborough
in 2001 as Richard took up an Education Inspector post with Leicester City Council.
They have two children: Trenna and husband Andrew and their two children Ethan and
Anya live in Loughborough and are youth deacons in King's Church; Gavin and wife
Rachel live in Manchester where they are in eldership in King's Church. Richard
and Lyn provide pastoral leadership across many areas of the life of the church family.
