Our first visit to Cyprus was in 1997, when we stayed in the Hawaii Beach Hotel (now the Hawaii Grand Hotel) in Limassol, which we highly recommend.
Apart from a day trip into the Troodos Mountains to the Kykos Monastery, where we were refused access because Chris was wearing shorts, our only excursion was a three day mini-cruise to Israel and
Egypt which was brilliant fun. More details are on the Israel and Egypt pages.
We returned to Aphrodite's Isle in 2000, where we stayed at a friends house in Erimi Village, just outside Limassol, where we met up with some friends (Kate and Darren) who were on holiday staying with their parents who live in the same village. We had a great
time once again and thanks again to David for letting us use his lovely house in the sun.
Our most recent visit was in 2001, when we stayed at the luxurious Le Meridien Hotel and Spa, a little way further along the Limassol coast from the Hawaii Grand.
This is a brilliant hotel, three superb swimming pools, the largest hotel rooms on the island and an excellent spa facility. Chris managed to get seasick trying out "thalassotherapy" but I can well recommend the "shiatsu" and "Chinese
Taoist" massages
Le Meridien closed during the winter of 2002 and has reopened as a residents only resort and unfortunately the prices have almost doubled otherwise we would have gone back there in 2003, the first time we have ever said we would go back to the same hotel again.
