"Pa", was born in Wythenshawe, near Manchester in October 1936, the youngest of Albert and Charlotte's three children.

He finished Yew Tree Secondary Modern School in July 1952 and started work as an apprentice electrician in August 1952.

He met "Ma" in North Wales in 1955. They were both on holiday with their respective families and "Ma" saw "Pa" as a necessary distraction. It was a true holiday romance as "Ma" was already engaged, back in in her home town of Liverpool, but it must have been true love because "Pa" would cycle the 70-mile round trip, from Manchester to Liverpool, every other weekend to see her, with "Ma" making the journey by bus alternate weekends.

They were engaged in 1956 and married in 1957. They bought their first house in Sale, Cheshire in 1959, at the princely cost of £2,250.

Alan "Kit-Bag" was born in September 1968 and the family moved to Camberley in 1969, and then to Bristol in 1974 before taking root in Gloucestershire in 1976

"Pa" retired in August 2000 and now delivers "Meals-on-Wheels" once a month with "Ma" and is the local Neighbourhood Watch Co-Ordinator.

In 2006 "Pa" celebrated his 70th birthday with a trip on the London Eye and afternoon tea at Harrods and in October 2007 "Pa" and "Ma" celebrated their golden wedding anniversary
