Locomotion 5th Annual Steam Gala

19th to 20th September 2009

The annual steam gala to celebrate the anniversary of the NRM museum opening.

The event will see visiting through Planet from the Manchester Science and Industry Museum and NCB22 from the nearby Bowes Railway. This year the railway is home to the oldest working standard gauge steam loco Furness No.20 and this locomotive will be in operation alongside the two visitors.

Visitors have a chance to visit locomotives footplates when the locos are not hauling passenger trains and demonstration movements.

Historic model Orion will be on show to celebrate the Centenary of the SLS (Stephenson Locomotive Society).

Traction engines and fair organs ill provide extra entertainment.

The museum itself is also open as normal with its usual exhibits on displays, along with displays and stalls from local heritage railway societies.
