TWO world-class digital animators will be revealing some of the tricks of their trade as part of the 4th Leicester Bike Film Festival later this year.

Animators Cyril Fernandez and Simon McKeown will support the festival with a workshop offering budding filmmakers and fans the chance to find out about the latest in computer animation and pick up some tips on how to bring animated characters to life. The event - due to be held on Saturday, May 28th - will also feature a selection of animated bike films from around the world.

Stewart Charles, festival organiser and filmmaker, said: “This will be an excellent chance for people to find out about cutting edge animation techniques from two people with masses of industry experience.”

French animator Cyril Fernandez worked on the award-winning film 'Belleville Rendezvous' and gave an introduction to the cult favourite at last year's festival. Simon McKeown is an experienced animator with over 16 years' experience of film, television and computer game animation.

Andy Salkeld, Leicester City Council cycling officer and festival co-organiser, said: “In addition to this fantastic animation event, the festival will see the premier of six local films that look at different aspects of cycling. We will also be offering a rare chance to see the latest extreme bike sport films on the big screen along with the festival's proven mix of contemporary and classic bike films and documentaries from around the world.”
