| Another
comfortable win for the Monarchs team who beat off a
spirited challenge from the Bury riders in a Midland
North League fixture at Slater Street on Sunday 08
May.
Leicester’s big guns were bang on form with Mark
Newey and Lukasz Nowacki in unstoppable mood and
along with four race wins for David Hemsley they
provided a powerful trio that the visitors were
unable to contain.
Newey was close to
losing his unbeaten tag when he was not up with the
leading riders in heat seventeen of the meeting and
the former world champion had to thank his team
partner Mark Whitehead for his unselfish riding.
Whitehead drifted
wide on the car park bend to prevent Bury’s Neil
Howarth from taking the lead and in doing so created
enough space to allow Newey to slip through on the
inside.
The bulk of Bury’s
points came from Ben Scranage, Chris Eaton and Paul
Dyson, but the battle for the minor race positions
were won by the Leicester riders, Craig Marchant,
Paul Hunt and Tom Sensicall who weighed in with
crucial points to help the Monarchs win by 103
points to 77. |
