LEICESTER v NORFOLK

24 April 2005

First Team : WON 101-77

Venue : AWAY

Combination Team : WON 81-53

 League : Premier

1st Team Report : Norfolk 77 Leicester 101
The Leicester Monarchs picked up another two match points after completing a relatively easy victory in their British Premier League fixture against Norfolk on Sunday.
The Monarchs were forced to make several changes to the side that drew at Bury the previous week but still had enough strength in depth to contain the home side.
In the opening stages there was very little difference between the two sides, but as the Monarchs team began to settle on a track that offered few overtaking opportunities, they gradually pulled ahead to lead at the interval by eleven points.
David Hemsley and Lukasz Nowacki both mastered the circuit to finish the meeting unbeaten with Daniel Pike delivering another competent performance in only his third match in the colours of his new club, Leicester.
In the absence of the Monarchs captain Norman Venson, the armband was handed to Craig Marchant who responded with his best score of the season and on this showing Leicester travel to Sandwell on Sunday looking for another win to consolidate their position at the top of the league table. Report by Alan Jones

Combination Team Report : Norfolk 53 Leicester 81
Leicester’s combination team followed in the tyre treads of the senior riders and came back from East Anglia with both league points safely in the bag after beating the home side by 81 points to 53.
With passing at a premium on a track that did not encourage either side from taking risks.  Only Paul Hunt managed the feat for Leicester when he came through in heat nine, and his team partner Lucy Whitehead followed him to secure the Monarchs third consecutive heat win that took the fight out of their opponents.
All six Leicester riders hit form together with Tom Sensicall and Carl Jarvis turning out to be a devastating partnership whenever they appeared on the track. The duo were first across the finishing line ahead of their opponents in four races. Report by Alan Jones
Rider Races Score

Dec Crouch 4 12+1
Tom Sensicall 5 16+4
