Letter Farm is
very central for touring Perthshire or Angus and is perfectly
placed
for their many golf courses, historic houses,
castles, cycling, walking, exploring the mountains and
glens, fishing or generally unwinding amongst fantastic
scenery. The Arts are well catered for as Birnam, Pitlochry
and Perth all hold Arts and Music festivals. Gaelic Mods are held throughout the year in the smaller, more outlying
towns. Dunkeld itself is steeped in history and lies on the
banks of the River Tay, the longest river in Scotland. It was the
first ecclesiastical capital of Scotland and the ruin of its
cathedral still dominates Dunkeld today.
The immediate
area around Letter Farm offers an extremely good network of walks, varying in
difficulty, including Birnam Hill, Deuchary Hill, Loch Ordie,
Atholl Woods and The Hermitage.
Drive only a few
miles more and you are in Highland Perthshire amongst the
mountains and glens. For the ultimate experience, climb Schehallion or Ben Lawers for the stunning views across
Lochs Rannoch and Tummel. After that, perhaps a wee dram
will be called for and experience the golden nectar at one
of Perthshire's four distilleries - Glenturret at Crieff
being the oldest in Scotland and Edradour at Pitlochry being the
smallest in Scotland.
Letter Farm is
adjacent, not only to the Loch of the Lowes wildlife reserve, but also Dunkeld's 18-hole golf course where the views from the
higher greens are excellent.
