Lynns Hall - a fine, unspoilt 15th century manor house situated near Sudbury, Suffolk, England.

The detailed history of Lynns Hall is unclear but its earliest known record is 1421. Lynns Hall (originally spelt Lynnes Hall) was probably built for a wealthy wool merchant as Suffolk's agriculture, at that time, was predominately wool. The nearby village of Lavenham was also built with wool wealth.

It is known that Lynns Hall was owned for many generations by the Appleton family of Little Waldingfield. Samuel Appleton, born 1586, married a Judith Everard on 24 January 1616. Both moved to Rowley, Massachusetts, USA, in 1635 where Samuel died in 1670.

Lynns Hall, still a private residence although no longer associated with agriculture, is built in the traditional Suffolk lath-and-plaster style and retains many of its fine beams and interesting features. It is thought that the house has 'evolved' over the years rather than been modernised.
