3.4 Amendments.

3.4.1 Purpose.

Amendments only apply to formally baselined specifications, such as system specifications, project standards, etc. An amendment shall be prepared to make brief or minor changes and to correct errors. Lengthy changes to specifications shall be accomplished as revisions. When the number of pages in the amendment exceeds 25 percent of the pages of the document, or when the security classification is changed, the document shall be revised.

3.4.2 Document identifiers for amendments to specifications.

The document identifier of the amendment shall be the same as the specification with which it is associated. The word "AMENDMENT" followed by a sequentially assigned Arabic serial number, and the date of approval shall appear under the document identifier. Amendments shall be numbered consecutively for each specification. Amendment numbers, including those for interim amendments, will be assigned by the preparing activity for the specification.

3.4.3 Amendment headings and titles.

The headings and titles for specification amendments shall be the same as the specifications with which they are associated.
