Reliability Plan

Overview

The objective of the 'Reliability Program Plan' is to assure attainment of the reliability requirements of the acquisition as stated in the 'System/subsystem specification'.

Reliability should be stated initially in development specifications as an aim with a lower minimum acceptable requirement. In this case realistic requirements shall be determined and incorporated later in the development specification together with the requirements for demonstration.
The reliability of configuration items under development is difficult to access without a knowledge of the reliability of components. The segregation of reliabilities to HWCI, CSCI and their components shall, where applicable, be given in as much detail as possible and the extent to which such data may be used validating the requirement stated.
Reliability and performance are now recognized as being of comparable importance although this does to vary from one project to another.
