Overview

The SEDS is a detailed schedule of the tasks to be done to satisfy the 'Systems Engineering Master Schedule (SEMS).
The SEDS provides a activities Vs time visible display into the progress and risks involved in completing technical tasks.
The purpose of the SEDS is to support the SEMS and risk management of critical program activities.

Format

The SEDS should be prepared using a 'industry standard' Project Management Tool mutually agreed between the acquirer and supplier.
The SEDS shall show vertical and horizontal traceability Through the cost reporting system, Work Breakdown structure (WBS), SEMS, and SOW.
The scheduled activities shall be consistent and unambiguously defined. List all abbreviations and include any definitions not defined in the applicable dictionary or higher level documentation, i.e., Program Plan, System Engineering Management Plan, etc.

Content

The SEDS shall contain an integrated network-based schedule to include events and their definition, network-based detail schedules with associated higher order intermediate and summary level schedules, and periodic analyses of progress to date.

Key elements shall be:

• Summary schedules - a display of the top-level events and their tasks from initiation to completion of the effort for upper levels of the WBS;
• Detailed schedules - a graphical display of the major tasks and their detailed activities for a particular WBS element;
• Network - a graphical display depicting the logical flow of activities highlighting the critical path;
• Periodic analysis - a brief summary which identifies progress to date and variances out of tolerances to the planned schedule, causes, potential impacts, and recommended corrective action to avoid schedule delays.
  Planned. forcasted, and actual completion dates shall be included. The summary report shall also identify potential problems and results of continuing assessments of the network critical path;
• Relationship of cost and technical performance risk to the schedule - Schedule risk includes the effect of scheduling uncertainty. Describe the approach taken to limit the impact of risks identified by the risk assessment.
