Foreword
The objective of the UCI design process is to describe a standardized and formalized approach to the design of User-Computer Interfaces which will result in optimal, usable, operable, reliable and fully integrated with the system and software development processes.
If necessary the User-Computer Interface will be developed in conjunction with System Software. The UCI shall incorporate all system design features and provisions which enable or enhance the interactions between the system user and software. These include: displays, displayed information, formats and elements; command modes; User-interface language; input devices and techniques; dialogs, interactions and transactions between user and computer; user feedback; decision aiding; procedures and user documentation; and provisions for training, prompting, cueing, helping, tutoring, and job performance aiding.
