This landmark development comprises 150no. apartments and 300no. student hostel bedrooms with a two-phase construction programme, on a prominent site at the junction of the High Street and Ingram Street vistas.
This complex brief involved detailed consultations with City Planners, Rail Authority and interested groups involved in the College Business District and Merchant City re-developments.
The high density takes advantage of the established student
and key worker village provision in the area, whilst introducing
over 6000ft. of valuable retail space in this rejuvenated
quarter. The buildings address the urban fabric and circulation
patterns, rising 7, 9 and 11 storeys as a campus of related
blocks. The High Street building is framed by natural
stone "towers" on each end and the modern style is achieved
by utilizing external materials including aluminium framed
curtainwall, glazed blue terracotta rainscreen cladding
and high specification render systems. |
