After extensive
consultation with the Local Authority and several other
public bodies, this development comprises the first phase
of a new football stadium for Hamilton Academical Football
Club. This includes construction of the West and North
stands, pitch, floodlighting, new roads, parking and
services infrastructure, providing seated capacity for
over 5,200 supporters and including function and hospitality
suites, all club playing, training and administrative
facilities and office space to let. South Lanarkshire
Council, fully supportive of the development from inception,
have now fully occupied all three floors of office space
in the North stand.
The design of stands responds to the brief to ensure clear, open views from all
seats and a cantilevered roof design was adopted. Externally, the building echoes
the character of the local area with designed brickwork elevations and club colours
(red + white) to cladding, roofs, seating and other features. A further phase,
completing the South and East stands has been designed, with implementation dependant
on the club’s success over the next few seasons. |
