The Future.

The Trustees always try to maintain the hall to a high standard, but from time to time it is necessary to take a leap forward with a significant improvement.  Like the building of the Caretaker’s Flat in the 1960’s and the Store and Servery in the 1990’s “Vision 2010” aims to be one of those leaps forward.  We have tried to imagine what kind of a hall Ashtead will need in 10 years time and to make changes which position us closer to that ideal.  Our vision is of a slightly larger hall with a smarter appearance whilst retaining its 1920’s charm and character, and all the time with an accent on quality.

The Improvements

The overall plan is to extend the side of the hall to its boundary, so that the Bar and Ralli
Room can be enlarged.  This extra 16 sq.m. will allow customers to sit in the Bar if they
wish, and allow far more room behind the bar for staff to move around.

A welcoming new glazed entrance will give access to a Lobby with a more attractive appearance and direct access to The Bar, Ralli Room and new Toilets. A new draughtproof entrance lobby will give access to the main hall.

The Marshall Room will be made slightly bigger by the removal of  the Gents’ Toilet

The front Gents’ Toilet will be extended and the Hall Office made large enough for one or two potential hirers to sit in comfort to discuss their needs.

The current estimate of the cost is in the area of £250-300,000, which will be raised mainly from external sources, but of course it is hoped that residents will wish to make a contribution too.
