MGA's involvement in Environmental Consultancy in the late 1980's came originally from two separate directions. As a result of legislation, MGA's Mud Consultancy operations were becoming progressively more involved in finding technical solutions to the environmental problems encountered while drilling.
At the same time in Norway, Fluid Treatment Consultants A/S (a company that MGA had a technical exchange agreement with) was being called on to provide process design solutions to pollution problems, both by Oil Companies and for other projects. By 1987, TFC was already acting as Project Leader for the Mourik Group in the excavation and treatment of tar polluted soil from the Stavanger gasworks site.
Thus when MGA Environmental Services Ltd was formed in 1989, the essential elements of the company were already in place. Our work since then has split between minimising oilfield pollution, and remedial processing of previously polluted sites. MGA's experience includes :-
Oilfield Consultancy
- Major Review of Cuttings Cleaning Technology.
- Technical Assistance with review of Alternatives to Oil Based Mud.
- Review of rig designs to assess ease and costs of installing Cuttings Collection Systems.
- Assessment of potential for Oily Cuttings Injection at the Rig site
Design Consultancy for the development of Cuttings Slurrying Equipment.
Project Management for the development of rig site solvent extraction Cuttings Cleaning Process.
Major Review of Synthetic Based Muds.
Remedial Processing
- Joint development of Mud Cuttings Separator (MCS Unit) for recovery of synthetic and oil based muds from cuttings.
Development of solvent extraction technology for oil/solids separation and oil recovery
Provision of Project Technical Leader for removal and cleaning of oil emulsion from 25 km2 lake, and cleaning of lake bottom plus surrounding soil (Azerbaijan).
