MGA Trading Limited was formed in 1986, as a consultancy company devoted entirely to the mud business. The directors, Dennis Hanson and Chris Meyjes, had previously worked both for mud companies and for consultancy groups. The initial aim was to bring together in one service company the expertise of several long-serving mud consultants. Since that time, the company has diversified into commercial property. However the emphasis remains on independent consultancy, through our MGA Consultancy Services division.
In 1988 MGA entered into a technical exchange agreement with Fluid Treatment Consultants A/S of Stavanger, Norway, to co-operate on joint environmental studies. This relationship was further cemented in 1989 with the formation of MGA Environmental Services Limited. MGA Environmental Services currently provide environmental consultancy services, and are involved in conceptual studies and process design work for a number of environmental projects. Our particular area of specialisation is oil/solids separation, coupled with oil recovery. We have developed some innovative technology, including solvent extraction technology and our MCS (Mud Cuttings Separator) Unit.
In 1990 MGA opened a facility in Alkmaar, Holland to service our Dutch operations, where we have a substantial share of the rig site mud engineering market. This facility provides customer liaison services to MGA operations in Holland, Belgium, Denmark, and Germany.
Under a restructuring in 1996 our companies were reorganised under a central holding company, MGA Holdings (Scotland) Limited. All mud consultancy services are now provided by two 100% owned subsidiaries, MGA Trading Ltd for consultancy in the Netherlands, and MGA Consultancy Services Ltd for consultancy in all other areas.
The services currently offered by MGA split broadly into five categories :-
· Rig site Mud Engineering
· Mud Management
· Personnel Training
· Mud Projects and Technical Reviews
· Environmental Consultancy and Process Design
