In 1982 Chris Meyjes was engaged by the OPITB in Montrose to provide Mud Training Courses within their overall training schedule. Over the years MGA's training activities have expanded, and we currently provide courses at the following levels :-
Drilling Fluids Induction for Nontechnical Oilfield Personnel Introduction to Drilling Fluids for Graduate Engineers with no oilfield experience ; Mud for Rig Crews for rig personnel from Derrickman to Driller level ; Solids Control for rig personnel from Derrickman to Driller level ; Mud Engineering for Drilling Engineers as a module in Drilling Engineering training programmes ; Mud for Drilling Supervisors to improve both background knowledge and supervisory skills Advanced Mud Courses tailored to customer requirements for Mud Engineers with 2-5 years field experience Environmental Awareness Courses tailored to customer requirements to familiarise Drilling Personnel with environmental legislation and compliance techniques.
MGA's instructors, Chris Meyjes, Derek Smith, and Jim Crawford are all based in Scotland, and operate through our MGA Training Centre in Aberdeen. Courses have been run either in-house, or in conjunction with such establishments as the Drilling and Production Training Centre, Aberdeen Drilling Schools, and Carey International.
