THE LAZENBY STORY

From the humblest of beginnings and with the optimism and ambition which foreshadow success, the embryonic Lazenby organisation emerged into the corporate limelight during the summer of 1988.

Recognition of a niche in the marketplace proved the spur for the initial investment in a flat bed sheet polishing system, and with a great deal of hard work ( and some good luck ! ) Lazenby’s secured market tenure with a range of specialist Stainless Steel finishes tailor-made to suit an ever more demanding fabrication industry.

Until 1990, our reputation in the market place was founded solely upon the single element of hirework polishing. Successful though this had proven, the Directors of Lazenby recognised the inherent limitations of operating a one-dimensional business in constantly changing conditions, and proceeded with a programme of expansion which continues to this day.

The following few years saw the development of our Stainless Steel stockholding division which, in tandem with in-house polishing , helped the company to consolidate its earlier success and guarantee its long-term future. The combination was rightly envisaged as the best means of giving Lazenby the competitive edge over stockists who are forced to rely on third party costs and longer lead-times to provide a complete service. The self-sufficiency of this approach has proved to be an invaluable buffer against times of recession and the arbitrary market contractions which characterise the modern industrial condition.

In line with our continued growth, our volume of stock has increased incrementally since the early days, and has diversified to incorporate a full range of Stainless materials including sections, bars, tubes and plates, all available in several qualities and types. Development of any business will inevitably demand more warehousing space, and Lazenby’s is no exception to this rule. Our large, fully equipped facility in Dewsbury precisely mirrors the company’s ambition, and represents a monumental increase in market share since we operated from a humble unit in Bradford.

The Lazenby organisation has come a long way in a relatively short space of time. We now look to the future with the same confidence and commitment to customer service which have inspired our success so far.
