Morzen is moored at Waldringfield on the River Deben in Suffolk, England

The Deben is a beautiful tidal river, navigable from its entrance between Felixstowe Ferry and Bawdsey and Melton, above Woodbridge.

At Waldringfield, the river bends past the sand and shingle beach below low cliffs and woodland.

The sailing club, pub and boatyard are close at hand, with clean landing at almost all tide states by dinghy on the foreshore.

The shallow Deben entrance, between shifting shingle knolls, presents a challenge and can be very hazardous, particularly on a strong ebb with fresh onshore winds, when large breakers form near the bar.

Despite (or perhaps because of) this, the river is relatively tranquil and a perfect home base from which to explore the excellent East Coast cruising grounds.
