First/Second Generation
Michelle learned assembley language on the 80x86 and 6502 architectures, paying particular attention to graphics and file subsystems and writing programs to enhance the system features.

Third Generation
Starting with Basic at the age of twelve, Michelle progressed to Cobol and Pascal. She had used Cobol on ICL series 29 and 39 mainframes, and Pascal in countless personal and work projects. She has also worked with C++ and undertook a work experience course in Delphi. She has developed solid programming experience and is capable of handling the full software developent cycle from investigation and specification to training and support.

Fourth Generation/Databases
Using dBASE in 1998/9 Michelle provided detailed systems for a number of projects in Ogwr Borough Council. She later progressed to a relational database, Adabas Natural, and was actually trained by Software AG themselves. With this grounding she has an extensive knowledge of database technologies and practices.

When web design started to become widely known in 1995, Michelle was already programming HTML code by hand. Since then she had learned Java Script and Perl. She has also dabbled in MySql and PHP, and Michelle has a wide range of clients (mostly small businesses) all over the U.K. and also counts a prominent London surgeon among her clients. She believes in designs which are simple, quick to load, but effective and easy to navigate.

Support

Packages
Package support includes titles and products across the common PC base, including various versions of Microsoft Office and the Corell Office suite. Again, her generic abilities come in to play as her intuition and experience meld to enable her to support new software with cosiderable speed.

User
Job satisfaction for Michelle comes from solving problems, and her experience of first line by phone, second line by desk side and third line by strategic development, has always given her satisfaction in developing systems that help users and in turn progress the business.

Operating Systems

Servers
Michelle has extensive knowledge of server technology from Windows NT (4) through to 2000. She has handled Novell Netware from bindery version 3.x to 5.x servers and she knows NDS and the additional ZEN Works package. She has also dabbled with various versions of Unix and Linux. At home she uses Novell 4.x and 5.x servers together with a Windows 2000 server handling IIS. She is also competent with DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, etc.

Clients
Main client focus has been Microsoft OS's, beginning with DOS version 3.2 right through to XP. Though she grew up on command line systems she knows how to get the best from most Windows OS's.

Support Tools
Michelle is a strong believer in Ghost and Partition Magic. She also advocates correct OS application build design in order to speed up system recovery and minimise data loss. She has used numerous control systems including VNC, SMS, PC Anywhere, Laplink and Novell's remote control system, and has also used McAfee and Norton Symantec's anti-virus systems for clients and servers.

Backup
ArcServe and Backup Exec, the industry standards, have been used throughout her career on various platforms.

Hardware

Servers
Full experience down to board level repair and build of a wide range of servers, mostly PC-based architecture, including Compaq.

Networks
Has assisted with and built numerous networks and is familiar with patch pannels, routers, switches and hubs.

Clients
Michelle has a solid and wide ranging experience of board level speficication, building and support of a wide range of desktop PC clients. She is also capable of board level support of laptops.
