Yoono
Overview
Yoono is a social bookmarking app that searches for sites relevant to your specific interests. It works by monitoring your browsing acitivity and displaying a list of recommended sites relevant to your viewing. The app requires that you build a list of bookmarks. Be aware that these are shared with other users whose interests are similer to yours. The app needs users as more users means more bookmarks to improve their relevance. The site allows you to view other users“ bookmarks if they permit it. As with Google there is an "I feel lucky" button that generates random suggestions. July 2009.
Yoono
Conclusions
There are many competitors and no compelling reason to use this particular app. It may generate useful lists of related sites to visit if you enjoy browsing but it has to convince you it is better than Google. If you would like more refined recommendations based on browsing by similar users then give it a try.

Twine
Overview
Twine is different form of social bookmarking app where users "collect, share and discuss information" on the web. It works best not on the website but through its regular emails providing updates from other users. Topics are created around areas of interest (called "Twines") which users submit articles (web pages) to through a bookmarklet. Users then receive emails with lists of uploaded articles in their chosen "twines". Its trick is that it uses a semantic AI engine to assist users to discover related information. To generate user interest it needs users to add items to their Twine. The AI identifies key information from the saved pages, such as people, places, and organisations, and links these concepts to related twines. A recent feature added is that articles can now be "twittered". July 2009.
Twine
Conclusions
A site that is gaining much traction which will make its usefulness grow albeit with the risk of much "noise". A great site for being informed on current topics of interest and for Twitter users who wish to twitter their twines.
