Sqworl is a approaches bookmarking through the user of thumbnails to create a simple visual bookmarking tool. Part of its trick is to shorten URLs. You can create your own homepage of visual hyperlinks similar Google Chrome and Firefox Desktop. You can then add notes which can be very helpful for reminders why a link is useful. A downside on this is that it does not encourage regular use.
