Gather is a alternative social networking website for publishing articles on your favourite subject matter. Typically, it encourages networking on your chosen hobby through commenting on posts. You are given your own subdomain where you post your notes. To encourage interaction groups can be created around shared interests. Forums come with standard messaging features. Its purpose is therefore bringing together people for easy discussion around common interests. There are few gimmicks other than sharing articles making it easy to use and understand. July 2009.

This is blogging made even easier. It is an alternative to mainstream social networking sites such as Facebook. It is narrowly based around discussion groups. Whilst friendly by nature it is unlikely to threaten popular sites.

Tokoni is a simple social networking site with basic blog-style and discussion features. Its main feature is to encourage the user to tell stories, about their family, fashion, health, hobbies, education, worthy causes, pets, relationships, science and technology. In this sense it operates like a cut-down blog on a social media site. July 2009.

As with Gather it is blogging for people who fear blogging and who want to share interests with others in a safe environment on a shared site. It is not that different from blogging and is unlikely to reach that many people who cannot or will not open their own blog or use a social networking site.
