Gizapage

Overview

A start page with a tabbed approach and a public URL. There is a long list of websites can be added each with its own tab but far from long enough. There are some obvious omissions such as Shelfari. This is a large scale attempt to aggregate your social profile. It allocates a whole page through a tab to each profile. Unfortunately, the effect is to gather all your profiles without actually condensing them into one manageable page.

You can also connect to your friends and view their profiles alongside. However, this is academic until Gizapage goes mainstream. There are a set of privacy controls that are important to users and keep specific aspects private or public. You can personalise your URL, which is increasingly the norm.

Gizapage, despite its silly name, is promoted to professionals promoting their brand and sharing with others.

The site is professional in look and feel but also easy to use with its simple layout. October 2009.

Cliqset

Overview

Cliqset is similar to Plaxo and FriendFeed in that it aggregates feeds and contacts. Cliqset aggregates information from over 80 social media sites enabling sharing both ways. By being able to comment and share feeds Cligset tries to genuinely be your one stop website. From here you can have conversations as you do in Twitter. Through the permissions feature you can create groups to control who can see and do what.

To manage your feed Cliqset provides a customisation of conversations, which you can open up to see the whole conversation. In the same way you can limit the information you view by disabling selected incoming feeds. However, the personalisation tools are based partly around you following other Cliqset users.

Cliqset is real web 2.0 in how it operates in real time with a notification tool. It also has links to other social media apps such as Boxee.
