Hunch

Overview

Hunch is a new web app and a fairly unique one to assist in decision making. There is no limit to what questions can be asked however it is new and dependent on user input to develop its database. It works by asking you ten questions in return to the question you ask. It then gives you a response which you rate for its usefulness. It is supposed to learn from you over time and give better responses. You get only one response although one or two more may help with certain questions. To begin you need to create an account and answer a few questions about you to help with the recommendations it will make to you. To help the site grow new query topics can be added to a "workshop" area users' vote they can be released as questions on the wider site. As a new site it needs to grow volunteers to contribute to it - as happened with Wikipedia. July 2009.

Conclusions

Image descriptionIt is early days to know how much the world needs a site like this. Its success will depend on users generating new content to make the site more attractive to visit. To generate traction it needs results that are relevant and intuitive.

Think

Overview

Think is a basic but highly usable mind mapping tool. Relying on a simple visual example to explain the drag and drop approach to creating the map the app is easy to learn and work with. There are no further steps to create a complex mind map. Beyond connecting nodes the mind map has no furthe sophistication.

An ability to print and customise colour schemes would make a huge improvement to its simple approach. Login is through OpenID and thoughts can be saved. May 2010.

Conclusions

A simple mind mapping tool for those who do not wish to learn sophisticated techniques but instead want to produce a basic mind map on the fly.
