Toddbrook Sailing Club
Instructions For Race Offiers

1. Phone your assistants well in advance and phone the following week's RO to remind them.

2. Start and warm-up the Safety Boat's engine before the first race

3. Manning the Safety Boat takes priority over all other activities, requires two people wearing buoyancy aids as crew and must not be driven at speed, except in an emergency. Use of the safety boat should be kept to a minimum as agreed with the fishing club.

4. Ensure that boat crews wear buoyancy aids and, when the water is cold, wet or dry suits in order to minimise the dangers of cold water shock and hypothermia.

5. Try to run races at the published times. Ideally each race should last an hour.

6. Bring some milk for the tea break.
