Changing The Psion Timer Batteries

The main batteries should last two or three months. If you get a "main battery low" warning then replace the batteries at the end of the race. They should last out, but connect to external power if you wish.

To check batteries: press “System” then hold down the lower left “Psion key” and press B (ie “U+B”). Note the state of Main, Backup and any external power. Press “Esc”. Press “Enter” to return to the timer screen.

To renew the batteries: switch off, close psion, invert, and squeeze rear hinge cover at grip mark to remove. Replace with two new DURACELL AA alkaline batteries. Please identify the removed batteries and keep them for checking.

The backup battery preserves the program during main battery removal or failure and is only intended to supply the memory while the main batteries are being changed, and with the Psion switched off. It cannot power the Psion for long, especially if switched on. Do not remove unless the main battery is working. Do not finger battery or contacts. If the Main batteries run down then the backup battery will soon fail and the TSC Timer program will be lost; try not to let this happen.
