About Toddbrook Sailing Club How To Find Us You can find a map here. . From Stockport, take the A6 towards Buxton. After approximately 10 miles (at the large roundabout) turn right on the A5004 into Whaley Bridge. After a further. ½ mile turn right at the train station(look for the Jodrell Arms pub), and then almost immediately left onto Reservoir Road. We are 300 metres on the left. From Buxton, take the A5004 towards Whaley Bridge. As you enter the crossroads at Horwich End, go straight on, then turn left at the railway station (look for the Jodrell Arms pub), and then immediately left again onto Reservoir Rd. We are 300 metres on the left. Membership Junior membership is available to persons aged up to 18 and gives the right to use the Club's facilities. Associate membership gives the right to sail any dinghy not owned by the member which is kept at the club by a full member with their permission and the right to use the Clubs facilities under the direction of the Committee. Full membership gives the right to a vote at General Meetings of the Club, and also the right for the member's spouse and children to use the Club's facilities. It includes the right to keep one boat at the club. Contact us for further details. Facilities We have a large, warm clubhouse with a well-equipped galley. There is also a separate shower block and changing rooms. Outside there is a secure, fenced off dinghy park area for members to keep their boats. Sailing Times Club racing takes place on Sundays between February and November, and on Wednesday evenings during the summer months (contact us for further details). We sail most of our races on a handicap system so that different boats can be accommodated. Fleet Our largest fleet is the Enterprise fleet, although there are also GP14s, Picos, Toppers, Graduates, Larks, Mirrors and Topaz. There are even canoes and a couple of windsurfers. Club Social Events We have a full programme of social events here at Toddbrook. A full social calendar is offered to members incorporating a variety of events for all tastes, and culminating in the end of season prize giving dinner and dance. Once or twice a year we ‘up sticks’ with our boats and tents/caravans and visit one of the larger Lochs, Lakes or Reservoirs around the country for a long weekend of sailing, BBQs, and music. We have many talented musicians and hold musical evenings and supper supported by our own band, Whimbrel. |
