BIOGRAPHY
Nicola Streeten studied Social Anthropology at Sussex University and Art and Design at Middlesex Polytechnic. She has worked as a freelance illustrator since 1996. Her specialist areas are the application of a cartoon style to people, maps and buildings. Most of her illustration work has incorporated text and image. Illustrations have been commissioned by publishers, businesses, charities and private clients. Nicola began work on her first graphic novel, Billy, Me & You in 2007. Myriad Editions are the UK publishers. She is currently in receipt of an Arts Council England award to research and develop her second graphic novel, Choices.

RESEARCH
Nicola is in the final part of a Masters of Research degree (Mres) at The University of Lincoln. Her research area is Gender and the graphic novel. www.beaconartproject.com Co-founder and co-director of a not for profit visual arts organisation with charitable status with the artist, John Plowman. Beacon is based in Lincolnshire, in the East Midlands and was set up in 2004.
www.Laydeez do Comics Co-founder and co-director of this first women-led UK graphic novel forum with a focus on the autobiographical and domestic more than the superhero. This was set up in 2009, with the artist, Sarah Lightman. Guests are invited to present their work at monthly meetings in London.
