Unlike wire mesh which can only
be drawn flat, synthetic mesh sieving screens benefit from being
well tensioned prior to use. Nylon mesh holds its tension better
if it is soaked in water prior to fitting but this is not
necessary with polyester which absorbs little or no water. The
two main methods for fitting mesh are:
1.
The
mesh can be hand tensioned or stretched with special wide-jaw tensioning
pliers before fastening to the sieve frame by either stapling or
trapping in a 2-part-metal frame.
2.
Alternatively,
the best tensioning can be achieved using a pneumatic tensioning
machine which allows for the mesh to be adhesively bonded to a
wood or metal frame. Normesh can provide this particular option
if preferred.
