The best VWs always seem to turn up when you least expect it. I was not looking for another camper, but an ad appeared on the internet (on the most unlikely of websites) that caught my eye… “1971 Danbury VW Camper. One owner from new, full service history etc etc etc.”

Mr. Tom Plunkett of Spondon near Derby purchased this van on 1^st September 1971 from Dalbury Cars, Ashbourne Road, Derby. For the next 34 years, this was Mr. Plunkett’s only car. He had it regularly serviced for the first 20 years of it’s life by the main VW dealer and for the next 14 years by a local independent VW specialist. In this time, the van has covered a mere 104,000 miles and has never required any welding or bodywork!
