General Information

Accidents

All accidents are written into an Accident Book (even the slightest little bump). Your child's accident is explained to whomever collects him/her at home time and that person is asked to sign the accident book. If necessary we will telephone you, or if we cannot contact you one of your emergency contacts to collect and care for your child. There is always at least one member of staff present who is trained in First Aid.

Behaviour

At playgroup your child will never be smacked, punished or isolated. Unacceptable behaviour is discussed with the child and it is explained why it is unacceptable. If problems persist we will consult you so we can work together to devise the best strategy for a solution and work closely with you.

Clothes

Playgroup embroidered Sweatshirts are available to order via the playgroup, please ask a member of staff. Please send your child in clothes suitable for messy play and ones they can manage themselves to go to the toilet. Please make sure all loose items (wellies, jumpers etc.) are labelled. No jewellery should be worn (including badges) and only stud earrings are acceptable. The playgroup does have some spare clothes in case of accidents, however it is nicer for your child if you can provide a small bag of their own clothes.

Confidentiality

Please be assured of complete confidentiality in all discussions and records concerning your child.

Fees

Fees are paid at the beginning of term or half-termly and all cheques should be made payable to "Easington Playgroup". In special circumstances, payments can be made weekly. Please speak in confidence to the playgroup supervisor who will help you. Also, the Pre School Learning Alliance and Social Services both have schemes to help parents/guardians with financial difficulties so please ask. We are unable to refund fees if a child misses any sessions.

Fees are £6.50 per session.

Notice

One month's notice is required should you wish to remove your child from playgroup before the end of term.

Illness

Please do not bring your child to playgroup if he/she is unwell. For the sake of the other children, please keep your child home if infectious. Staff must be notified immediately of Rubella, Chicken Pox, Slapped Cheek or any other rash as these may pose a risk to the other children. Likewise, staff will inform you if there is a child within the playgroup that has gone down with something infectious. If your child is suffering with vomiting and diarrhoea, please leave 24 hours from the end of the symptoms before you send him/her back to playgroup.

Sweets

Children must not bring into playgroup any sweets, chewing gum or other foods. The only exception is on their birthdays, when they may bring something in (sweets, cakes or biscuits) to share with everyone.

Staff

All staff at playgroup are approved by Social Services. They are all experienced in pre-school childcare (having worked previously within either playgroups, toddler groups or as nannies/childminders), are all committed to ongoing training and always aim to maintain a high standard of care and early education for your child. Not only that, they are all parents too!

Toilet

Children must be out of nappies and be able to use a toilet (not just a potty) before they start playgroup. Staff will accompany your child to the toilet if needed, but aim to encourage children to go independently as soon as they are able.

Toys

Children should not bring any toys with them unless they are for the interest table. If your child has a particular comfort toy, please discuss the situation with a staff member. Please check they are not in any tiny objects that another child may swallow.

AGM

An annual AGM is held along with other regular meetings (usually once a month) where you can air any views or suggestions regarding the playgroup. We have a notice board at playgroup where we display our latest news/events and also our policies, committee meeting information and any other relevant notices.

Family Resource Register

This helps us to make the most of all available resources and helps keep our fees as low as possible. On our Registration/Information Form we ask for details of any skills, hobbies, contacts or equipment parents, carers, family and friends can offer.

Donations

Any donations of any sort are always appreciated. Things like kitchen towel, tissues, liquid soap, flour for playdough, or biscuits are always appreciated. You may even have toys or games that you no longer require that Playgroup could use or sell to raise funds. We even have a collection box within the group so if you feel particularly generous you can drop in a few coins!!
