This is not just a joy ride, but
the chance to experience the joys of open cockpit flying in probably the
most famous bi-plane of them all - the de Havilland DH82a Tiger Moth. Our
Tiger Moth is especially historic, being one of the first batch of ten made
by the de Havilland Aircraft Company, in Stag Lane, Edgware, and is the
second oldest Tiger Moth still flying today. |

Booking Your Flight
Delta Juliet, our 1933 Tiger Moth, operates from White Waltham Airfield,
near Maidenhead, Berkshire. She flies from April to October , and is available
both weekdays and weekends. Bookings can be made from early January for
the coming season, and as weekends are generally more popular we recommend
you book early to avoid disappointment.

What To Wear
We provide a warm sheepskin Irvin Flying Jacket, leather flying helmet
and goggles, so no special clothing or equipment is required for the flight.
Remember though, you will be spending time outside on an open airfield,
so dress to suit the weather on the day.

Your Flying Lesson
The first few minutes after take-off will be spent climbing away from
the airfield. This time is best spent looking at the fantastic view and
enjoying the open cockpit experience.
Once clear of the airfield your instructor will demonstrate the controls
of the aircraft and then guide you through some basic manoeuvres. When
he says "You have control", YOU will be flying the Tiger Moth.

The Day Before
Call us the day before your flight to confirm you will be flying and to
discuss any last minute queries you may have.
Operating vintage aircraft is weather dependant. We therefore monitor
the weather forecasts during the days prior to our flying, in order to
obtain an accurate picture of the likely conditions on the day.

Before Your Flight
You will be given a pre-flight briefing which will include details on
the flying controls of the Tiger Moth, and how to communicate with your
Instructor during your trial lesson. There will be ample opportunity for
your family and friends to take pictures at the aircraft while you are
being fitted out with the customary Irvin Flying Jacket and leather flying
helmet. You will then be guided into the cockpit, strapped in and given
a short safety briefing before take-off!
