A gloomy basement is transformed into a light, airy kitchen and dining space. The garden is scooped out to pull the ground away from the back of the house. The doors are designed to slide away completely, blurring distinction between interior and exterior spaces. Turf to the lowered external space gives a surreal sense of an internal room with a grass carpet.
The kitchen, made for the chef client, has a stove as its focal point. Two large mirrors to either side of the chimney give a Parisian restaurant feel.
