Woodland Rise
for Susan Carter and Mark Cambell North London £160k Construction Budget completed Aug 04
London's housing stock is running out of space to extend
into its lofts. The only way left is to go down. Here at this
house in North London, we have taken advantage of the natural
slope of the site to carve out a new lower space. The extension
at ground floor level is to the same footprint as the basement,
but cantilevers from the line of the original back wall. Thus
the kitchen visually hovers above the basement room, allowing
a continous line of glass around the perimeter of the lower
room.
