A LONG ROMAN WALK Sunday 1st February starting at 11 am in Aldbury Non-members and dogs welcome In memory of Richard Bagshawe, who died at Hudnall last July, we are following the Roman Road from Aldbury to Box Moor. Richard was the co-discoverer of this road in the 1960s, and led the society along parts of it in 1985 and 1989. We are now going to repeat the longest of these walks but in the reverse direction. MEET 11am at the playing field car park, Stocks Road, Aldbury, grid ref. SP 966128. Break point Alford Arms, Frithsden, around 2 to 2.30pm where people may join or leave. Finish about 4.30pm at Box Lane near The Swan opposite Old Fishery Lane (footpath), London Road, Boxmoor, grid ref, TL38059. The route is mainly on tracks and paths, in some places trackless, and some short distances on roads. About 7.5 miles. Bring your lunch.
