NOTICE OF REGISTRATION AND ELECTION TO ALL FILIPINO CITIZENS

         Notice is hereby given that there will be regular national and local elections in the Republic of the Philippines on May 10, 2004. Under Republic Act No. 9189, otherwise known as “The Overseas Absentee Voting Act of 2003” (hereinafter, the “Act”), all qualified citizens of the Philippines abroad may vote for President, Vice-President, Senators and Party-List Representatives.

Independence Day Mass to be held on June 14

         On June 12, the Philippines will celebrate the 105th anniversary of its independence and nationhood. The Philippine Embassy in London wishes to announce that there will be a concelebrated Holy Mass on June 14, Saturday, at 3 p.m., to mark the occasion. The Mass will be held at the Brompton Oratory Catholic Church, located at Brompton Road, South Kensington, London SW7 2RP. A reception and merienda for the Filipino community will follow, to be held at the church's social hall. Barrio Fiesta sa London on July 19 and 20

          The biggest cultural event of the Filipino community in the United Kingdom, the annual Barrio Fiesta sa London, will be held on the weekend of July 19-20 at its usual venue, the Lampton Park in Hounslow Central, London. There will be a two-day program of cultural presentations, food sale and crafts bazaar, trade fair, amusement rides, and other attractions. The Philippine Embassy will set up a booth to render consular assistance to the public. The Philippine tourism office will be also be there to give away promotional material and provide information. The Philippine Center, headed by its chairman Joseph Pariñas, is once again organizing the Barrio Fiesta sa London, which is expected to draw another sizeable crowd in the tens of thousands.
