On
July 22nd more than 100 young people from across East Brighton
took part in the Annual East Brighton Summer Showcase at the
Gardner Arts Centre.
This is the third year of the event, which aims to highlight the achievements
of young people in the area and provide them with an opportunity to perform
at
a professional theatre.
The
evening consists mainly of performances from local dance groups.
This year the groups included Dance Fever, The
Pinks, Cool 'M'
Kids, Soul Sisters, New
Moves, Hove YMCA and Saunders
Park Dance Club.
Da Roof Skate Club from Brighton Youth Centre
provided the entertainment during
the
interval with an outdoor skate ramp demonstration and Brighton Youth
Musicalperformed an excerpt from their recent show Looking Like
That.
There
was a great audience turn out for the event and a fantastic
atmosphere. The young people all performed excellently and
their hard work and commitment over the past year was clearly
evident. The event was funded by eb4u and Positive
Futures and organised by Hannah
Wheeler (East Brighton Dance Worker)
and South East Dance.
