Over
a 1000 people attended the Whitehawk and Manor Farm Festival and enjoyed
the bright sunshine that shone on the good people on Saturday the 28th
of June. This year's attractions were an ice rink, the City
Farm project, a children's ride, a sports project, the Coolham
Kidz and the ATC. We were very lucky this year to have over
50 stalls and events including the Crew Club opening their doors
helping the day go with a swing.
The
day started with the parade from St Mark's School at 11.30am
arriving at the playing fields for 12 Noon. The festival was opened
by the glamorous and ever popular Joanne Good of BBC's Southern
Counties Radio. A samba band and a steel band provided
the music for the day. Even Elvis and Barbara Windsor (look-alikes)
came to lift the spirits of an already fun packed day.
Phoenix
would like to say a special thank you to, Sainsbury's (Lewes Road),
Asda (Hollingbury) and Waitrose (Western Road) for their dontations
of prizes for our Tombola stall at the Festival. We appreciate their
support for our local communities. The festival raised over £800
this year. THANK YOU ALL!!! We are all looking forward
to next year. If you would like to help raise funds over the coming
year please call Lynn Bennet on 0779 213 2760 or call
in at the Whitehawk Youth Centre.
